Undergraduate Research Mentee

Marlena Ngim (she/her) is an undergraduate research mentee at the H.E.R. Multimedia Lab at San Diego State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Communication with an expected graduation in May 2026. Her research focuses on how culturally tailored health communication strategies can improve healthcare access and outcomes for marginalized communities, driven by her passion for addressing healthcare disparities and making quality care more accessible to underserved populations. In the H.E.R. Multimedia Lab, she contributes to the “RoyalTea: Mind, Body, and Soul Care” research project, which seeks to enhance healthcare equity for Black women and girls vulnerable to HIV. Outside academics, Marlena enjoys rock climbing, video games, coffee, and horses.

Fun fact: She’s only been through a car wash once!
